A recently announced regulation to evaluate the performance of public servants in China has earned wide-spread applause from the general public.
In China, these types of governmental jobs have proved popular with most job-seekers, particularly in the current financial climate, as they provide a stable position which receives mid-level payment and extra income available through other means.
A commentary from the Xinhua Daily Telegraph supports the move, which is considered a job qualification system for civil servants. The article says the proposal will drag this privileged occupation from the past, and place it on equal footing with other professionals in society.
According to the new rule, public servants in China will be dismissed if they fail in their evaluation within two consecutive years.
However, the article quotes an online survey conducted by a major website as saying over two fifths of people worry about the actual implementation of this new regulation, particularly in terms of transparency and justice.
Many people say the elimination system should be well monitored. In addition, a method of evaluating the effectiveness of leaders should also be included.
The commentary goes on to suggest that related working benefits, such as social security and pensions, should be guaranteed during the evaluation process.
