B: Welcome to Letterbox. The first letter is from Lynn Robert Wineland from the United States:

"It's been a while since I've listened to shortwave, and I always enjoy it when I do. I enjoy listening to Chinese music and learning how Chinese life is different from here in America. I will continue to listen to your broadcasts and look forward to hearing from you."

A: Thanks for writing to us, Lynn. Next, another American listener, Cameron Archbold, writes in to say:

B: "I started listening to shortwave radio back in the 1970's and have heard your radio go from Radio Peking to Radio Bejing and now CRI. I still have a small pin that Radio Bejing sent me back in the 1980's that I cherish to this day. I was so inspired by short wave and radio in general that I went into the broadcasting field."

A: Hi, Cameron, thanks for sticking with CRI for so long. Since you are also a broadcaster, we hope to hear your comments on our work more often in the future.

B: Now, moving on to Mount Hooly from the UK.
"I am a radio hobbyist and like to listen to radio programs from all over the world. After retiring from work, I devoted more time to my radio hobby. I find that a lot of stations I used to hear are no longer on the air, but I am very glad to tell you that I'm able to listen to your station. I hope my reception reports will be helpful to you."

A: Thank you very much for your reception reports, Mount. Our listeners' reception reports are certainly very helpful to us. They let us know what we should do to improve our broadcasts and reception quality.

B: And here we want to express our gratitude to all the listeners who have taken the trouble to send us their reception reports.

A: And our last listener today is Peter Jones from Finland:
"I have been listening to CRI for 9 years, and I enjoy your broadcasts very much. I feel your programs are refreshing, interesting and quite different from other radio stations. It's nice to see that China has now become a more open country. My kindest regards to CRI and I wish you all a Merry Christmas."

B: Thanks for your kind wishes, Peter. As we enter the month of December, I think many people around the world are excited to usher in the Christmas season.

A: Yes, so here we also wish you, Peter, and all the other listeners a merry Christmas, although it's still over two weeks away.

B: And that's it for today's letterbox. Listeners Garden will continue after this break.
