Online Bookkeeping Becomes Popular
    2008-12-02 14:25:01     CRIENGLISH.com

Anchor: The global financial turmoil has made people more cautious about their daily expenses. As a result, online bookkeeping is becoming popular among white collar workers.

Our reporter Li Dong has the details.

Reporter: Ren Jie started online bookkeeping recently and loves it. Besides knowing where his money goes, he says online bookkeeping is more convenient than conventional one.

"Online bookkeeping can categorize expenditures. It's more convenient than making an excel form. The bookkeeping website can give you a summary of your expenses at the end of the month. It's easy to see how your expenses occupy each area."

Ren Jie found that online bookkeeping is also very helpful.

"Tracking my monthly bookkeeping, I found that I spent too much money on traffic and partying, which both cost around 400 to 500 yuan a month. My budget is 200 to 300 yuan. I think I need to control my budget. Online bookkeeping can help to build my sense of finance."

Different online bookkeeping websites have different functions. Some provide individual-oriented and enterprise-oriented bookkeeping; while others offer incentives.

Deng Yunpeng is a program engineer and founder of "gmogu.com". He designed a function which enables bookkeepers to access their account even while they can't use the internet.

"The user can send text messages to us and the system will automatically record the information in the designated category in the user's account. It's the same as sending an ordinary text message. Users can also set expenses on regular spending like gas, water, and electricity fees. It saves time. Plus, if uses are likely to overspend on their budget, we send warnings to their account."

The website started in 2006. But from September this year, the number of newly registered users is twice as much as compared to the same period last year.

Deng Yunpeng says the global financial downturn is a key reason behind the phenomenon. He intends to offer even more financial services.

"We plan to provide more financial analysis, such as suggestions to our users. The service of our website will become more personalized."
No matter whether you are an online bookkeeper or not, spending money smartly is always the best choice.
