A: Welcome to Letterbox. Don Rhodes is from Australia: "I am very interested in China and I tune into your News and Reports program almost every day. I find that CRI gives me an excellent overview of current life in China, and all of the presenters speak excellent English."
B: U.S. listener Douglas Bryant says: "I live in California, where I can't pick up your radio broadcast. But I visit your website often and enjoy your programs online. I very much appreciate the hard work and goodwill that you provide."
A: Thank you both for taking the time to write to us. No matter how you access CRI, your encouragement makes us want to do a better job.
B: Next, Ibrahim Bhutta from Pakistan writes in to say: "I listen to CRI regularly via shortwave and sometimes online. I have been listening to CRI for almost 10 years, and I'm very interested in your programs. CRI is a good source of news on China and the world. I also enjoy Chinese music very much. I love your friendliness to people from all over the world. If I can help CRI with anything, please let me know."
A: Thanks so much for your kind offer, Ibrahim. We actually do need help from our listeners. If it's not too much trouble, we'd love to hear your thoughts on our work from time to time.
B: Now moving on to Christer Brunstrom from Sweden: A: "China Horizons is one of my favorite shows on CRI. I like the format of three or four short features that provide insight into various facets of China. I listened to China Horizons last Sunday. The report on a Tibetan tour guide in Shangri-La was highly interesting. It seems China has an endless array of possibilities for tourists. I enjoyed the show, and the music that was included."
B: Hi Christer, nice to hear from you again. We've passed your letter onto the China Horizons team. They are glad to hear your remarks and want us to say many thanks to you.
A: The next letter is from an Iranian listener named Yasi. "It has not been long since I became your listener. I find your English programs very interesting. I'm very curious about Chinese culture, society and the way of life, so I'll go on listening to your programs. I think China's development is very impressive. We can see and feel it in our markets. Many products here are imported from China. I hope one day I'll have the opportunity to visit China and see all improvements myself."
B: Welcome to CRI, Yasi. Thanks for your interest in China and in CRI. We really hope you can come visit our country sometime in the near future.
A: For our last letter today, we have Arun Bhandari from Nepal. "I'm a college student in Nepal, and a regular CRI listener. It is wonderful for all of the Nepali listeners that we can now listen to your station on a local FM radio. We want to thank CRI for this contribution to the listeners."
B: Hi Arun, we're also glad that CRI programs can reach more listeners through FM radio. We hope you will enjoy our shows even more now.
A: And that's all we have for today's Letterbox. Listeners' Garden will continue right after this.
