 Hello and welcome to this week's  In the Spotlight on China Radio International.  I'm your host Xiao Hua. In today's edition, we will first go to the 10th Shanghai International Arts Festival. For an entire month, the city's many venues will come alive with performances by celebrated art troupes and performers from around the world.

We will then remember one of the most prominent film directors in China, Xie Jin and his films. Xie Jin's sudden death on Oct. 18th has shocked the country, and brought people's attention back to this famous director whose films influenced Chinese people in the later half of the 20th century.

Part I:

The 10th Shanghai International Arts Festival has opened in the east China city among much fanfare. For an entire month, the city's many venues will come alive with performances by celebrated art troupes and performers from around the world. Ying Ying has the details.

Part II:

The funeral of one of the most prominent film directors in China, Xie Jin, was held in Shanghai on 26th. His sudden death on Oct. 18th has shocked the country, and brought people's attention back to this famous director whose films influenced Chinese people in the later half of the 20th century.  Now let's follow our reporter Zhong Qiu to remember Xie Jin and his films.

Part III:

The tenor is the highest male voice heard in classical and choral music. World famous tenors such as Placido Dominggo, Jos¨¦ Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti have performed many beautiful songs for their audiences and Chinese tenor singers are also become more and more popular. On today's program, we will hear songs performed by Chinese tenor Lan Jian.  Here is our reporter Ning Yan.
