US President Delivers Weekly Radio Address
    2008-10-27 09:20:34     CRIENGLISH.com

United States President George W. Bush has again called for patience and expressed confidence the economy will eventually rebound in his weekly radio address.

"Despite the ups and downs that our markets have experienced in recent months the American people have reason for optimism in our nation's economic future. Throughout our history, we have seen that when Americans are given the freedom to apply their talents and their imagination, prosperity and success follow closely behind. For over two centuries that principle as allowed our economy to overcome every obstacle it has faced and we can all be confident that it will do so again."

The president stressed that now is not the time for nations to abandon open market policies, despite diving stock markets and fears of global recession.

As the host of G20 summit slated for next month, Bush called on the leaders at the summit to recommit themselves to the fundamentals of "long-term economic growth - free markets, free enterprise and free trade."
