Hello and welcome to this week's In the Spotlight on China Radio International. I'm your host Xiao Hua.
In today's edition, we will first take a look at a cultural program China Story. Located in some white tents in the Olympic park, the program displays the unique culture of different cities or provinces in China. We will then visit an art factory, the 798 Zone. Encompassing various galleries, design workshops and cafes, the art zone now is not only home to many domestic artists, but also a tourist attraction for people all over the world. Please stay tuned.
- The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games doesn't only provide a stage for world athletes to compete, but also offers a platform for host country China to display its culture. Part of the Olympic park in the capital city has been dedicated to showcasing both traditional and modern Chinese culture, with the setting up of 30 white tents to tell the "China Story". Each of them displays the unique culture of a different city or province in China, featuring the state's intangible cultural heritage, traditions, folk customs, etc. Now let's follow our reporter Zhong Qiu to find out more.
- While thousands of people in the metropolis dream of owning a luxury apartment with expansive views of Beijing, one group of artists has settled down instead in decommissioned factories. They don't need to work around clock or get to work early each morning. The work condition they need most is space, and the cavernous, decaying factories provide it. The base of this thriving community lies in the 789 Art Zone, or Dashanzi Art District, in northeastern Beijing. Let's take a closer look with our reporter Wang Jing.
- The 2008 Summer Olmpic Games has ended. But in about 10 days from now, the 2008 Paralympic Games will be held in Beijing. Under the motto "Hold Paralympics as splendid as the Olympics", the contest aims at popularizing the Paralympics' spirit of "Transcendence, Equality and Integration." It hopes to encourage compassion towards the physically challenged athletes, and encourage participation and support for the Games. Today, our reporter Ning Yan will introduce some musical pieces which represent the Paralympics spirit.
