Situated in the northern part of Yantai and circled by the sea on three sides, Yantai Hill is the keeper of the coastal city.
It is home to "Feng Huotai," or the fire column tower, which was built almost 1,400 years ago and used for military purposes in ancient times. Although it is no longer in use, the tower still draws numerous citizens and tourists who come to get a glimpse of history.
Yantai was Shandong Province's first port of trade. Seventeen countries, including Great Britain, the United States, Germany and France, had consulates or commercial agencies in the city, six of which were on Yantai Hill.
With its open view of the sea and rich historical resources, Yantai Hill was selected as a AAA national tourist resort.
