"Though the mountains shake and the earth quakes, we are together in peace. I want you back to normal life. This is our life-long promise."

This song, titled "The Promise", was recorded for earthquake-devastated Sichuan province by more than a hundred performing artists in Beijing, Hong Kong and Taipei on Thursday night, May 15th, 2008.

This is one part of a relief effort, co-organized by Phoenix TV, Hong Kong Performing Artistes Guild (HKPAG), Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB), Asia Television Limited (ATV) and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK). The event is aimed to convey love and care and to raise awareness for the people who are suffering from the massive earthquake that shook Southwest China's Sichuan province.

Eric Tsang, Honorary President of HKPAG, says it usually takes as long as six years for a quake-devastated city to rebuild completely. Therefore, the organizations will continuously hold such events in the following six years to keep raising funds and help rebuild the cities.

Written with the melody for "Unrestrained Sea and Far-ranging Sky", originally sung by Beyond, a HK Band in mid 1990s, the lyrics was written by Andy Law, Hong Kong veteran actor and singer.
