During a recent session of the political consultative conference in Hebei Province, a delegate suggested that Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei Province, should change its name to a better and more cultivated one. He gave three suggestions: Xibaipo, which is the name of the famous revolutionary site in Hebei; Jidu, which literally means capital of Hebei; or Beining, which means peaceful north.

The Guangzhou Railway Station Helped to Ease Passengers' Minds
Currently, there are still 800,000 people who are stranded in Guangdong province due to bad weather. The capital city Guangzhou is taking the brunt of the burden. To cope with the crowded condition around the Guangzhou Railway Station, the municipal government set up over 10 makeshift shelters scattered in the city. Other measures have also been taken.

Additional Trains Take Thousands of Passenger Home
When heavy snows began causing massive train delays last Saturday, crowds heading for Anhui Province were stranded at the Shanghai Railway Station. Starting from Tuesday afternoon, the city rail authority has dispatched emergency trains to transport thousands of passengers to Bengbu in Anhui.
