President Hu Jintao's work of paper-cutting, titled 'Getting Home', will be presented at the eighth China Arts Festival beginning on November 5 in central China's Hubei Province.
On February 17, Hu was ringing in the new year with farmers in Gansu Province. Inspired by Ran Juying, who was cutting paper artwork, Hu also made a festive design and glued it to the window.
His work was collected by the Gansu Museum and has already arrived in Hubei.
Paper cutting is a traditional art form with a 1500-year history in China. People express their love for life and wishes for the future by cutting auspicious paper shapes during festivals. Chinese paper cutting is now applying for world heritage status. |
