Vision Center to Train Athletes for Olympics
A vision training center will be set up in Beijing this summer to train all Chinese athletes taking part in next year's Olympic Games, the center's founder said in Shanghai yesterday.
"Athletes will achieve better results after the eye training," said Dr. Howard Purcell, founder of the Beijing AchieveVision Center and a member of the American Academy of Optometry.
"For example, excellent speed-skaters keep their sight slightly left, which contributes to increasing the speed in the counter-clockwise skating," said Purcell.
He said eye movements and focus can be enhanced through proper training. "We will design a personal eye training plan for each athlete according to their sport and vision," .
The center will use training instruments that are similar to video games, some of which simulate a real game for athletes. 1 2 3
