During the May Day holiday, more than 4,000 applicants for the 2008 Olympics volunteer squad have introduced Olympics basics and offered help to tourists at Beijing shopping malls, on the streets and at bus stations.

Arts major, Mei Qing, and her classmates have been drawing free portraits for travelers on Beijing's Wangfujing Street in the past week.

They draw the pictures on a blank page in Olympic Pamphlets which they have carefully prepared.

"This pamphlet is in five colors. We draw portraits for tourists on the blank page, so that they will keep their unique pamphlet. This also helps us spread knowledge of the Olympics".

Meanwhile, 63-year-old Du Yuying and her elderly friends also have their way of offering Olympic service.

These English language fans have found that foreign visitors rarely ask elderly people for help, so they paint two big English words "Ask Me" on their red T-shirts.

"'Ask Me' means you can come to me if you need help. Foreign tourists will know we can offer assistance when they see these welcoming words."
Many foreigners are impressed by volunteers' kindness, professional service and confidence.

It is reported that over one million volunteers will go to the streets and neighborhoods to offer specific services for the public before the arrival of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
