Chinese international Sun Jihai from the Premiership's Manchester City might stop playing for the club before his contract expires.
According to a report published on GoalChina.net, a domestic professional football website, Sun¡¯s position on the team is likely to become shaky when former Thai Prime Minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, completes his purchase of the club.
The report hints that the purchase is currently at a very crucial stage, though neither party is willing to comment further.
His reported replacement could take place on the team should the ex-Thai leader gain control of the City of Manchester Stadium. Manager Stuart Pearce, whose team has been fighting relegation in recent seasons, may have to fear for his job.
Sun Jihai, a player favored by the current manager in the midfield and on the defense line, would be likely lose that favor with the departure of his manager.
In an earlier interview with the official publication of the club, Sun Jihai expressed his willingness to hang up his boots in China after his current contract expires in 2008.
Unconfirmed sources, however, suggest that another Premiership club - Reading - has their eye on Sun Jihai.
