British director Daryl Goodrich, who is famous for the successful promotional film for London's bid for the 2012 Olympic Games, was invited to Beijing on Friday to make a five-minute promotional film for the 2008 Olympic Games.

As part of the "Vision Beijing" film series, the 42-year old director will help shape a green and healthy image of Beijing and its active cultural communications.

A total of five directors will work on the five-episode project. Daryl Goodrich is the third director to have received an invitation, following Italian film master Giuseppe Tornatore and Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi.

At a press conference on Friday in Beijing, director Daryl Goodrich, on his second visit to China, talked about how he would exploit Beijingers' passions for the Olympic Games in such a short time.

"Filmmaking and some sports are a very expressive subject matter. I look closely to someone intensively and someone, when he or she is performing. That says a lot. It is so much more than spoken words. You can see deep inside somebody and see exactly how passionately he or she is about what he or she does and what he or she believes in. I am looking to catch those moments. It can be the smallest moment on film, but it says so many words. And you're constantly looking to find those moments. It doesn't have to be big and over the top. Sometimes the smaller and the less say a little more."

Shooting of the film will begin at the end of May. All of the five short films are slated to be screened in August at various venues, including on television, at the airport, on buses and advertising signs.
