Henan Province, the capital, Zhengzhou, has recently issued a change in the rules covering the recruitment of disabled people to the civil service.
According to the new regulations, disabled people who are capable of performing regular work will compete on equal footing with others in governmental recruitment.
The Beijing News says that people have welcomed the improvement, saying it reflects social equality. But some are concerned that the change is not a big enough step forward. They say more preferential policies should be granted to disabled candidates in order to help level the playing field.
