Wedding Industry Booms in China
    2007-03-04 14:39:54     CRIENGLISH.com

More than 350 Chinese enterprises and 11 international companies are promoting wedding products and services at the National Wedding Service Expo, currently underway in Beijing.
Hundreds of business people and expectant couples have also attended the expo to browse their wares.

Liao Junguo is Director of the National Wedding Industry Investigation Center. He says the wedding service industry is flourishing in China.

"Statistics show consumption of wedding services have increased by 10 to 20 per cent each year. For example, wedding dress sales have increased by 30 percent every year and the demand for wedding ceremony hosts keeps growing by 10 percent every year."
Last year, Chinese couples spent about 40 million yuan, or some 5 million US dollars, on their wedding ceremonies. There are now 46 different types of wedding service available on the market.
The wedding photography business is now quite mature but no famous brands have emerged to stitch up the business in other aspects of the wedding industry, like dress manufacture and make-up.
