Yu Dan is a professor with Beijing Normal University. After her unique way of analyzing the ancient Chinese classic of The Analects before a TV audience, she shot to fame almost overnight. Sales of her book surpassed 1.5 million within 40 days of publication. Its readers ranged from grey-haired senior citizens to teenagers, from white collar workers to housewives.
