At the Shanghai Bookstore, books about personal finance, especially stocks and funds, are selling like hotcakes.

Many people spend their holidays browsing finance books in the store. A reader who has just bought some books on stock investing says he is eager to charge up on his knowledge in this field.

"Reading books about stocks helps me better understand the stock market. Especially after the Spring Festival holiday, the bull market is expect to continue. I want to improve my stock knowledge to make more profit."

Booksellers at the Shanghai Bookstore say they have restocked books about investment during the past week. The daily sale of these kind of books has increased by 20 percent compared with normal days.

"It's clear that the surge of the stock market has given impetus to the book sales. Two books on financial investments were among the top 10 bestsellers last week."

China's stock market witnessed a nearly 140 per cent jump last year, prompting a great surge in stock investment by the general public.
