Couples Prefer Unique Wedding Solutions
    2007-01-16 11:22:39     CRIENGLISH.com

A wedding exhibition just wrapped up in Shanghai on Sunday. Over 30,000 couples searched for innovative wedding solutions at the three day fair.

Our Shanghai correspondent Chen Simeng has the details.

Elaborate wedding gowns, glittering diamond rings, and unique wedding arrangements.

More than 200 wedding service providers competed to impress the engaged couples with their unique services at the All Wedding Fair.

More than 162,000 couples in Shanghai exchanged wedding vows last year, a record high in the eastern metropolis.

2009-01-03 Let's Go Skiing
Although the word of winter seems to covey anything but warmth, I believe the idea of going skiing is sure to kindle the passion within many people. Today we will talk about skiing.

He Lina is Secretary General of Shanghai Wedding Trade Association.

"As people's living conditions improved, couples are demanding more for their weddings than people in the past. Now everyone wants a more individual and fashionable wedding ceremony and they are willing to spend more money on it."

It's estimated this group of people spent more than 15 billion yuan, or 1.8 billion US dollars, last year, including the money they spent on purchasing an apartment and preparing for their wedding.

He Lina doesn't expect the figure to decrease in the next 3 years.

No wonder business owners are eager to grab their share of the cake.

Italy-based Costa Cruises just opened their office in Shanghai half a year ago. Now they are promoting their brand new wedding solution at the fair.

Mao Ailun is an account manager at the company.

"Weddings and love is a very romantic thing. So a cruise vacation is a good idea for honeymoon because they can take photos with their wedding gowns on at the same time. It would be a totally different feeling for engaged couples to feel the soft sea winds on the deck, compared with being photographed in studios, listening to photographers directions."

At the wedding fair, one can hear people chanting from different booth one after another. They're the happy tones of the money-maker, signaling a deal has been made and expressing the wishes for the couple to have a happy marriage.

Xu Lina just enjoyed the joyful bliss. She has signed a contract with a wedding studio.

"I want my wedding gown pictures fashionable, at least different from others."

According to the birth rate two or three decades ago, the number of people getting married will remain at peak levels for the next three years.
