Memory

If it's true depressed people tend to be more sensitive than most, I wonder if it's an advantage for artists. Anyway, that was Memory, from Lounge Diva.

The album notes credit the producer as, "Fortune, Prosperity and Longevity".

This actually stands for Mavis Fan, her boyfriend Laurence Chow and Japanese musician Jin Mu Yi Ze.

In Chinese culture, Fortune, Prosperity and Longevity are three gods who bring people joy and luck. It's just one example of the many cultural elements the three have applied to make their work more fun.

Let's have a listen to a piece off "Fortune, Prosperity and Longevity".

Fortune, Prosperity and Longevity¡¤Preface

Kin-Gei-Geiei

Well, I'd like to just call that the Indian song ¡ if you want to know the name, just remember the syllables Mavis' repeated throughout the song.

It's usually the indie musicians who go mainstream, but Mavis has taken the unusual step of transforming herself from a hot commercial pop star to an independent artist.

She never stops exploring what she's capable of and looking for ways to surprise her audience. In the past few years, she has set up her own music workshop, starred in a movie and written songs for pop stars.

The latest news has her collaborating with Huang Yaoming on mainland actress Zhou Yun's new album. But we still have no idea when Mavis will release her next album. Let's hope she won't make her fans wait too long.

Her latest album was issued two years ago. Here are two twinned-songs: You're My Sunshine and You're Not My Sunshine, from the album Is There Any Other Way Out.

you're my sunshine/you're not my sunshine

And that's almost it for China Beat today.
