Chinese commercial film director Feng Xiaogang's new martial arts film "The Banquet" will finally grace audiences this September.

According to the president of the Huayi Brothers film company, Wang Zhongjun, the premiere is aimed at the Chinese golden holidays during the first week of October, and will be in the running for an Oscar nomination next year.

Wang says director Feng Xiaogang will work on post-production in Canada, scheduled to be finished before the end of August.

"The Banquet" is Feng's latest film after his New Year's movie hits "Cell Phone" and "A World Without Thieves". The two films were the No. 1 and No. 3 films in China in 2003 and 2004, making Feng one of the most successful commercial film directors in China.

"The Banquet", starring rising Asian film stars Zhang Ziyi and Zhou Xun, mainland actor Ge You and Hong Kong's Daniel Wu, has been described as a loose adaptation of Hamlet, featuring royal conflicts and revenge in 10th century China.
