CRI Exclusive by Chen Ying---The long-anticipated Hong Kong Disneyland, the 11th Disney-themed park in the world and the first in China, successfully opened to the public on Monday after six years of planning and construction. The local enthusiasm for Disneyland has been overwhelming. In a survey recently conducted in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, about three quarters of those surveyed had heard of its opening and about a third said they were considering a visit. But how many know of another theme park even closer to home? The World Carnival is taking place right now in Beijing, bringing its own set of amusement delights to crowds of happy visitors. Let’s have a closer look at what the two have to offer:

HK Disneyland: Disneyland is the world's most famous themed amusement park and one of the most visited sites in the world.

World Carnival: The world's largest touring amusement park.

HK Disneyland: 126 hectares in its first phase, with a second construction phase already underway (1 hectare is about 10, 000 square meters).

World Carnival: 60,000 square meters

Rides and Games:
HK Disneyland: The park will feature four differently themed lands similar to those of other Disney parks: Main Street, USA; Adventureland; Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. It will also feature a daily parade and nightly fireworks. There are currently 21 rides in operation.

World Carnival: Sporting competitions, stage performances, dances, local and exotic exhibitions, rides, challenge games, food and drink—all in the tradition of the carnival. There are about 50 rides and games in total.
