S: ML, where is the wedding ceremony being held? 婚礼在哪儿举行? hūn lǐ zài nǎr jǔ xíng?

M: 婚礼在北京饭店举行 hūn lǐ zài Běi jīng fàn diàn jǔ xíng.

S: How do we get there? 我们怎么走? wǒ men zěn me zǒu?

M: We can take the subway, 我们可以坐地铁 wǒ men kě yǐ zuò dì tiě. Or, huò zhě, we could take a bus, 或者坐公共汽车 huò zhě zuò gōng gòng qì ch.

S: Or a taxi? 出租车行吗? chū zū chē xíng ma?

M: 出租车也行chū zū chē yě xíng.

S: Subway, bus or taxi. All will do. 地铁，公共汽车，出租车。都可以。 Dì tiě, gōng gòng qì chē, chū zū chē. dōu kě yǐ.

M: duì, dōu kě yǐ.

S: Hǎo. Now let's go over the new things. I asked ML, where is the wedding ceremony being held? 婚礼在哪儿举行?

M: Hūn lǐ zài nǎr jǔ xíng? Remember ‘get married"? Duì le, 结婚 jié hūn. Well 婚礼 HUN LI hūn lǐ 1st tone 3rd tone, is wedding ceremony. Zài nǎr jǔ xíng. 举行 JU XING jǔ xíng, 3rd tone 2nd tone, jǔ xíng is ‘to hold', in the sense of hold a meeting, or ceremony, or something.

S: So, literally, ‘wedding ceremony where being held?' Hūn lǐ zài nǎr jǔ xíng? Hūn lǐ zài nǎr jǔ xíng?

M: In the Beijing Hotel. 在北京饭店举行. That's easy.

S: 我们怎么走?

M: Wǒ men zěn me zǒu? 怎么 ZEN ME ze3me, remember, means ‘how' or ‘why'. How do we get there? 我们怎么走 say it, wǒ men zěn me zǒu?

S: We can take the subway. 我们可以坐地铁.

M: Wǒ men kě yǐ zuò dì tiě. 坐 ZUO zuò, 4th tone, literally means ‘to sit', as in 请坐 please sit down, qǐng zuò. Here it means to ‘go by' or ‘take' a bus, or plane or something.

S: 坐地铁 dì tiě DI TIE diì tiě, is subway, underground. Zuò dì tiě, take the subway, zuò dì tiě, zuò dì tiě.

M: Or, 或者 HUO ZHE huò zhě, or, huò zhě. 公共汽车 gōng gòng GONG GONG gōng gòng, 1st tone 4th tone, means ‘public'. Gong1gong4 qi4che1. 汽车 QI CHE qi4che, means ‘car', ‘automobile'. With gōng gòng it means ‘public bus'. 坐公共汽车, say it, zuò gōng gòng qì chē.

S: Finally, 出租车 CHU ZU CHE chū zū chē, means ‘taxi'. Chū zū chē. Say it, chū zū chē.
