Peter: “Wow.”
Mohinder: “Solar eclipse?”
Peter: “Yea. I wonder if it’s going to be a total?”
Mohinder: “Not here, no. Some other part of the world, yes. A global event. Makes one appreciate just how small our planet really is. And we’re all quite small really, aren’t we?”
Peter: “What’s your name?”
Mohinder: “Mohinder.”
Peter:　“I’m Peter. Let me ask you something, Mohinder, do you ever get the feeling that you were meant to…do something extraordinary?”
Mohinder: “I’m driving a cab, you may have noticed.”
Peter: “No, I’m not talking about what you do, I’m talking about…who you are. I’m talking about being special.”
Mohinder: “Yes, we’re all special.”
Peter: “That’s not what I meant.”
Mohinder: “Some individuals, it is true, are more special. This is natural selection. It begins as a single individual, born, or hatched, like every other member of their species, anonymous, seemingly ordinary…except they’re not. They carry inside them the genetic code that will take their species to the next evolutionary realm. It’s destiny.”

1. Solar Eclipse: When the moon passes between the sun and the earth, thus blocking earth’s view of the sun. 日食。

2. Natural Selection: The process by which certain traits are either passed on or lost in a species. 自然选择。（In a disturbing display of natural selection, the faster gazelles escaped the hyenas, while the slower (and pudgier) ones were swiftly grounded and devoured.） “Some individuals, it is true, are more special. This is natural selection.”

3. Anonymous: Without name. 匿名。 (The author chose to remain anonymous, because he/she was afraid of being pursued by rabid fan readers.) “…like every other member of their species, anonymous, seemingly ordinary…except they’re not.”

4. Destiny; Fate, what one is called to and cannot avoid. 命运，缘分。 (It was Luke Skywalker’s destiny to fight his father, Darth Vader. Even an army of Chewbaccas could not prevent this from happening.) “They carry inside them the genetic code that will take their species to the next evolutionary realm. It’s destiny.”
