Today's Highlight in History:
1920: the U.S. Federal Prohibition Law was enacted on January 2nd. This law prohibited the manufacture, transportation, or sale of alcoholic beverages. It wasn't until almost 14 years later, in December 1933, that Prohibition was repealed by the Twenty-First Amendment. During Prohibition, certain activities were sanctioned, including home winemaking and wineries being allowed to make sacramental wines.
1952: Luo Shengjiao,a fighter of the Chinese People's Volunteers, sacrificed his own life for saving a Korean child from the river on January 2nd during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
