Today's Highlight in History:
1936: Russian realism writer Nikolai Ostrovsky died on December 22. He was awarded the Order of Lenin in 1935. Many of his novels such as "How the Steel Was Tempered" became renowned and influential in the Communist world. Most of his works were published during the Stalin's era.
1983: China Wildlife Conservation Association (CWCA) was founded on December 22. Now it has 31 provincial-level and 260 prefecture/county-level branches, and about 30 thousand members who are wildlife conservationists, administrators, scientists, educators, natural reserve works and wildlife lovers. CWCA’s mission is to promote the development of Chinese wildlife conservation, protect, develop wildlife resources and rescue endangered species.
