1879: Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin was born on December 21. He was a Bolshevik revolutionary and leader of the Soviet Union. Stalin moulded the features that characterized the new Soviet regime; his policies, based on Marxist–Leninist ideology, are often considered to represent a political and economic system called Stalinism.
1937: Jane Seymour Fonda, Academy Award-winning American actress, model, writer, producer, activist and philanthropist was born on December 21. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1971 for Klute and in 1978 for Coming Home, and was nominated five more times.
