S. Korea to Send Buyers to China to Reduce Trade Surplus

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency says that a group of South Korean buyers will leave for China this week as an effort to reduce the country' s increasing trade surplus with China.

Buyers from 30 South Korean trading firms will be sent to the northeastern Chinese cities of Shenyang and Harbin from June 13 to 17 and hold purchasing consultations in the two cities.

Abbas, Haneya Agree to Continue Dialogue

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ismail Haneya have agreed to continue national dialogue based on a prisoners' document during a meeting Sunday night.

Asked about if the two sides agreed on the issue of holding a referendum on the document, Interior Minister Said Siam told reporters we did not talk about the question of referendum, because they declared their position in advance. 

Migrant Workers Contribute 16 pct of China's GDP Growth

China's migrant workers have contributed 16 percent of China's gross domestic product growth over the past 20 years, according to a report released by UNESCO and the Institute of Sociology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

The report showed that migrant workers made significant contributions in industries of construction, commerce, catering and urban environment cleaning. 

Private Sector Contributes to Protection of Historic Buildings

The private sector is playing an important role in protecting historic buildings in Suzhou, an ancient city in East China's Jiangsu Province.

Statistics show that among the 42 million yuan invested into the preservation projects of more than 100 historical buildings in Suzhou one-third of it came from private enterprises.
