The Beijing Olympic Games Organizing Committee, or BOCOG, recalled its major preparation works in 2006 on Thursday as the top 10 news stories on the Beijing Olympic Games were unveiled.

"The Chinese government attaches great importance to Olympic preparation" and "Affordable ticket prices announced for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games" ranked high on the list.

Wang Hui, vice-director of the media and communications department of BOCOG, talked about the affordable ticket prices when she unveiled the rankings.

"The decision for low ticket prices is out of the national condition and general people's payment ability. What is more important is to help more people watch the games in person and participate at the Olympics."

The top 10 Olympic stories came from over 300,000 votes from both at home and abroad through the official website of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
