Nine years ago, Chinese singer Li Huizhen made her mark with her debut album "Still Waiting." However, just as she started showing her potential as a superstar, she suddenly disappeared from the music scene for health and various other reasons. Nine years is a long hiatus. But Li Huizhen is back. Today, our reporter will tell us what new surprises are waiting for us with this songstress' comeback album, "Looking for Li Huizhen."

The present album demonstrates a major break from her previous sonorous and resounding rock style present on her first album. Her latest release, "Looking for Li Huizhen," features a more romantic singer with excellent singing skills and a pure transparent voice. This is very obvious in her title track Looking for Li Huizhen.

"She parted from home at a tender age. She withstood beatings from the weather and fought her way for success. She melted people's heart with her songs. She put all her heart into her singing and kept singing until her voice went away. I couldn't find her anywhere. If anyone's heard of her or knows her, please tell her, no matter how big the world is, there's always me caring for her. Let her come back home heart and soul."

These are part of the lyrics from the track. It's basically the singer's life story sung in the third person. Li Huizhen first drew attention during a singing contest in 1996 when she was 16 years old. She was recognized as a rising star with the release of her debut album "Still Waiting" the same year. The album was a smash hit. But the good days didn't last long for her. She was soon shelved by her music company because she suddenly put on too much weight. Then doctors discovered a major brain tumor. Not long after recovering from an operation, her father passed away. These grievances forced her to leave the music scene for a while.

Though she's been through many hardships, Li Huizhen never really gave up singing. Nevertheless, these experiences led to changes in her singing style, which is now more urban, sensitive and feminine. At the same time, she also displays more natural and open singing skills, as we can detect in another track from the album, "My Way," which is a rock number telling people to be persistent in their dreams.

The track "Desire And Dunhuang Grottoes" is a mysterious number with grand musical arrangements and a metallic music flavor. It says human beings will forever be lured by love no matter how many times they are hurt by love. The lyrics say, "Love is a desire that never dies. Love is a belief that is based on the desire to conquer. Love can at times make you feel you've been through hell, make you feel afraid, but you'd miss it and want it back if you don't have it. Love is like the mysterious Dunhuang Grottos. It lures you to visit it alone." Have a listen.

"Looking For Li Huizhen" is a concentration of numerous music styles, ranging from rock to metal, pop and electronic. Li Huizhen handles all these styles with ease.

"Magic Blue" is a light-hearted number full of electronic elements. It tells of the confident side of a woman in love who believes she possesses magic powers to win the hearts of her desired ones. With this track, we conclude our introduction on Li Huizhen. We hope you have enjoyed it.
