It's around this time in November, that singer and banjo player Abigail Washburn and her fellow musicians fly back to China to play bluegrass music. Washburn, along with banjo extraordinaire Bela Fleck, fiddler Casey Driessen, and cellist Ben Sollee, have been making this yearly migration for a few years now. But this time, they are here under the call of the Sparrow Quartet. They've spent the past few weeks touring through Lhasa, Guangzhou, and Shanghai, and now they're in Beijing. With a newly released EP of the same name, you can expect to hear a bit more jazz and gospel than the solid bluegrass arrangements from Washburn's solo album Songs of a Travelling Daughter.
You can catch them Friday November 10th at the Peking University Hall and Saturday the 11th at Star Live near the Lama Temple. Tickets are still available and you can go to www.ygtwo.com for more information.
