The country's traditional medicine watchdog has criticized an online petition aimed at getting Traditional Chinese Medicine withdrawn from the healthcare system.
Yu Jing, director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, says traditional Chinese medicine, remains undeniably a mainstream medical treatment method in the country.
"The idea of abolishing Traditional Chinese Medicine is not only a denial of science, but also ignorant to Chinese culture. We will further carry on the principle of combining traditional medicine and western medicine to ensure people’s health."
She also says that thousands of years of practice have demonstrated that people are fond of and deeply trust the traditional system.
