Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has called on Fatah and rival Hamas to end fighting in the Gaza Strip immediately, and get back to their former positions.
His plea came after fighting in Gaza Strip that left at least nine persons killed and 80 others wounded on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh has also urged Palestinians to cool their tempers.
"As prime minister, I call on all citizens to be responsible and to rise above disagreements...I call for an end to incitement and call for national unity to be preserved and the institutions of the people to be protected..."
Riots in Gaza erupted on Sunday after Hamas deployed interior ministry forces to prevent other security and police members from demonstrating against the Hamas-led government.
Security and police members demonstrated in Gaza over the past three days, calling on both the government and the presidency to pay them salaries they hadn't received for seven months.
