Anita McNaught, the wife of a New Zealand journalist who had been kidnapped in Gaza, met with the Palestinian Interior Minister and security chiefs in Gaza City on Wednesday.
McNaught's husband, Olaf Wiig, is a Fox News cameraman who was working with Fox News reporter and US citizen Steve Centanni when they were abducted from their TV van on Monday.
Palestine's Interior Minister Said Siyam says the security departments are doing their duty and carrying out a full search and investigation, but no new information has come to light.
“We call upon the kidnappers to release these people, because this action is against the interests of the Palestinian people and exposes them to danger."
McNaught, who is a former BBC World presenter, says the Palestinian officials claim her husband's captors acted on their own initiative with no support from militant groups.
"What they have said to us is that there is no political organization in Gaza, no official political organization that backs this kidnapping."
McNaught also says she knows very well how hospitable the Palestinian people are and believes they will be taking care of her husband.
The two journalists were near the Palestinian security services' headquarters when unidentified gunmen kidnapped them.
The main militant groups in Gaza denied any connection with the incident and no information has been released on any demands the kidnappers may have made.
