Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says his country will not accept a UN Security Council resolution asking Iran to suspend uranium enrichment work before Aug. 31.
Ahmadinejad made the remarks when giving a speech to a huge, cheering crowd in the town of Arbadil in northwestern Iran. He says Iran will be willing to solve the current problem through dialogue, but its people do not give in to language of force.
However, the president says Iran will stick by its plans to reply to an international package of economic and technology incentives offered to the country in exchange for its suspension of uranium enrichment.
"Our nation respects the law and we will respond to the nuclear package".
The UN Security Council has told Iran that it must halt enrichment by August 31 or face possible sanctions.
Meanwhile, the Iranian president also says Hezbollah has "hoisted the banner of victory" over Israel and toppled US-led plans for the Middle East.
He has also criticized the US and Britain over their involvement in the Middle East.
"Nations of this region want a new Middle East. A Middle East that's not dominated by the United States and Britain".
