Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh agreed to start a week-long series of meetings between their factions to try to reach an agreement over a document negotiated by Palestinian prisoners in Israel implicitly recognizing the Jewish state.
After the talks, Abbas said they agreed to discuss all issues.
"I hope we can reach an national agreement. The committee discussed tonight how to continue the dialogue. We want to continue it with everybody, we want everyone to join it."
Abbas also said he had urged various leaders for help to stop the attacks against his people.
"I spoke to the UN secretary-general, the secretary-general of the Arab League and with other officials all over the world just to tell them: stop hurting us. We want peace, and the Israelis are going too far in randomly killing innocent people."
Abbas' comments come after an Israeli air strike against a top Palestinian rocket launcher and his accomplice killed eight members of a family, including two children, while they held a picnic on a beach in Gaza.
