An Exhibition of Mongolian Photography opens in Beijing on Friday, in celebration of the 57th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and China on October 16th, 1949.
Jointly organized by China's Ministry of Culture and the Mongolian Embassy, the exhibition showcases various aspects of Mongolian culture and life, including the Mongolian script invented over 800 years ago and performances of the horse headed fiddle (马头琴), the two-stringed ethnic musical instrument registered on UNESCO's World Heritage List.
Wang Zhigang, Assistant Director General of China's Ministry of Culture, talked about the cultural exchanges that have been taking place between the two countries during the past decades.
"In recent years the economic, political and other relationships between our two countries have been developing smoothly. In the cultural sector, we are glad to see that there are more and more cultural exchanges. For example, the year before last year from our side we had a Chinese Cultural Festival in Mongolia and last August Mongolia organized a Mongolian Cultural Festival in China."
All together 47 photographs are included in the exhibit on display at the Capital Library during the Chinese National Day Holiday from September 29th to October 8th, providing a window through which Chinese people can get to know more about the Mongolian people.
