Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (Deloitte), one of the world's four biggest accounting firms, Wednesday announced the opening of an office in Hangzhou, bringing to 11 its total number of offices in China.

"The opening of the Hangzhou office is another milestone in Deloitte China's efforts over the years," said Chris Lu, CEO of Deloitte China. "This sends out a particularly encouraging message, given the difficulties faced by the world economy today. It demonstrates Deloitte's level of attention to China as well as our confidence in the China market and its future growth."

The new Hangzhou office currently focuses on tax and advisory services.

Deloitte's China network now spans 11 cities which include Beijing, Dalian, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Hong Kong, Macau, Nanjing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Suzhou and Tianjin.

China is one of Deloitte's fastest growing member firms, and is now the fourth-largest firm in terms of headcount after the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.

Deloitte has more than tripled its headcount over the past five years in China.
