Celebrities Drink in Culture
    2010-01-06 17:26:04     China Daily

A group of celebrities have become the first members of the Beijing State-Liquor Moutai Culture Research Association. The non-profit social organization was recently founded to promote Chinese cultural heritage by gathering high-profile figures.

They include famous Peking Opera singers Yu Kuizhi and Li Shengsu, and film director Chen Kaige.

Located near Beijing's Tian'anmen, the association's clubhouse will feature a Moutai Liquor Culture Museum. The establishment will collect and showcase various representative relics and historical records related to the Chinese liquor culture.

Produced in southwestern China's Guizhou province, Moutai is one of China's most famous liquor brands. It has been sold in more than 100 countries and regions since winning the gold medal at the Panama-Pacific Exposition in 1915.
