China's New Holiday System China's new official holiday system shortens the May Day holidays and adds more holidays on traditional festivals.
According to a newly-issued regulation, the May Day holidays will be reduced to one day from the current three days.
Meanwhile, four traditional Chinese festivals -- Tomb Sweeping Day (or the Qingming Festival), Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and Lunar New Year's Eve -- will become one-day national holidays.
The new regulation has taken effect since January 1, 2008.
