"All back to Dust" by Jiang Pengyi

Zenith Gallery

"Photo Beijing" is the special project of Art Beijing 2008 Contemporary Art Fair and the first photographic art exhibition in Asia.

Debate on whether photographic art may become the next target in contemporary Chinese art scene has been ongoing for ages. However, its strong performance in the market place in the past few years has rendered the debate meaningless.

In a special Contemporary Asian Art Auction at Sotheby New York, in autumn 2006, contemporary photographic arts became new heated items.

In the following spring auctions, photographic art auctions have been introduced at Beijing Chengxuan Auctions, China Guardian Auctions and Beijing Huachen Auctions, with an impressive sales record.

Besides being a good performer in the market place, photographic art has also, as an art form, made a number of contributions to the academic sphere of artistic pursuit. Many an artist has made their names with photographic art, and more and more galleries, through offering photographic art products, have reaped handsome rewards.
