Personal Income Tax Threshold in China

China started to collect individual income tax in 1980.

In 1994, China began levying income tax on citizens earning more than 800 yuan a month.

Now, as of March 1, 2008, people earning less than 2,000 yuan a month will not have to pay income tax.
