Profile:Manmohan Singh
Born in Gah, west Punjab, on Sept. 26, 1932, Singh was educated at Punjab University and at Oxford and Cambridge universities and won Cambridge University's prestigious Adam Smith prize in 1956. Singh was sworn in as India's 13th prime minister on May 22, 2004.
