Wearing traditional ethnic costumes, 130,000 people of the Miao ethnic group in Leishan County, Guizhou Province, start to celebrate their new year on Nov. 9, 2007. During the festival, Miao people will enjoy various activities including singing, dancing, bullfighting, and horse racing. As the most important festival for the local Miao people, Miao's New Year begins in October on the lunar calendar every year after their harvest in autumn.
