China Issues National Action Plan on Climate Change
China issued a national plan on Monday to address climate change and show its determination to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in an all round way.
 
 
• China Pledges to Close Factories Polluting Taihu Lake
China's main environmental protection body has vowed to close all factories that are discharging pollutants into the Taihu Lake, which has been hit by an algae bloom contaminating the drinking water of two million people.
• U.S. Climate Plan Should not Substitute UN Treaties
China is ready to strengthen cooperation with the United States on climate change by seeking common interests and shelving differences, said China's top economic planner Ma Kai at the official launch of the country's first national action plan on climate change.
• China Eyes Legal, Economic Measures to Cut Pollution
China is putting more emphasis on economic measures to save energy and cut pollutants discharge, including gradual reform of the pricing system of the resources products to reflect their true scarcity and impact on the environment.
