The International Forum on the Dao De Jing formally started its agenda in in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province on Monday morning.
Xi'an Tightens Security for Int'l Forum on Dao De Jing
Police authorities in the city of Xi'an in northwest China have tightened security to safeguard the safety of the delegates to the week-long, international forum on the Dao De Jing, a classic Taoist text.
China to Host First Int'l Forum on Dao De Jing
For the first time in 50 years, China will organize a state-level forum on Dao De Jing in Xi'an and Hong Kong on Sunday.
 
Laozi and Dao De Jing
Laozi (5th-6th Century BC), also spelled Lao Tzu or Lao Tsu, is best known as the legendary founder of Daoism and the reputed author of the "Dao De Jing".

The "Dao De Jing", along with the "Zhuangzi" is one of the core texts of the Chinese way of thinking known as Daoism. 

Daoism believes in the equality of life and death and attaches importance to a "super moral value."
