Danone's Actions in China 1. Since entering China in 1987, Danone has acquired stakes in at least seven leading Chinese food and dairy companies, including Shanghai-based Bright Dairy & Food Co., Shenzhen Health Food Co., Guangdong Robust Group and Shanghai Aquarius Drinking Water Corp.
2. In 2000, Danone bought 92 percent of Wahaha's biggest rival, Guangdong Robust Group, which Wahaha says cost it market share and the loss of 49 million yuan in profit that year.
3. In Apirl 2005, Danone bought a 45.2 percent stake in Shanghai-based Bright Dairy and Food Co. and a 22 percent stake in Beijing-based Huiyuan Juice Holdings Co.
4. In December 2006, Danone set up a joint venture with Mengniu Dairy Co., China's largest liquid milk producer, in which it owns a 49-percent stake.
