China's New Fighter Aircraft Debuts

China's home-made new-generation fighter aircraft, the Jian-10 (Fighter-10), made its debut in Beijing. A five-minute-long video film revealed how the fighter takes off, lands, fires missiles and flies in formation.

• Home-made Fighter Jet to Add Sky Power
Jian-10, China's home-made new generation fighter plane, is the product of the country's push for innovation. The plane, along with missiles, developed by China Aviation Industry Corp I, will narrow China's technology gap with developed countries.

• China's Air Force Equipped with Domestic-made New-generation Fighter
Sources with the Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) said on Dec 29, 2006 that it has been equipped with China-made new-generation fighter aircraft, the Jian-10, or Fighter-10.

Online Opinion

From the video meterial, we can speculate on Jian-10's performance that must surpass Jian-11, a Chinese version of the Russia-developed Su-27.

I believe the upgraded versions of Jian-10 will soon be unveiled and I think the fighter is powerful enough to better protect our mother country.

It really looks better than the outdated F-7 and F-8 jets, although it indeed falls far behind the US-made F-22 aircraft.

I'm very happy to see our country has the capability to develop such an advanced fighter jet and implement aerodynamic design, all by domestic technicians.

The US-based Associated Press also reports Jian-10's debut. It says the public appearance also reflects China's resolution to develop homemade technology and intellectual property. However the plane has yet to be proven in combat and some analysts claim its capabilities may have been overblown.
