More than half of college students in Shanghai felt they were not healthy, according to a survey conducted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Jiefang Daily reported on Tuesday.
Only 30 percent of the students felt they were healthy, the survey said, which covered almost 1,500 respondents from eight universities, including Fudan and Tongji.
The survey said poor sleep quality and a lack of exercise were the main reasons for the poor health.
Students usually sleep from 11:30 pm to 7:30 am, but 80 percent of the students said it took at least one hour to fall asleep, the survey said.
The survey showed 85 percent of the respondents couldn't concentrate in classes because of not enough sleep.
A heavy school workload and cyber games affect their sleep hours and quality, the survey said.
The survey also said 86 percent of students were fond of sports, but 68 percent didn't make the time to participate in sport activities.
